Finding a job

We all know how challenging job searching can be, especially if you’re new to the area — not to mention new to the country. Let us help make the process a little bit easier. Find information about job hunting in the US, professional development workshops and networking opportunities.

  • Attend Career Connect, a series of sessions designed to help you develop the fundamental skills for a job search in the US. We cover topics like identifying transferable skills, networking, adapting to the US business culture, and crafting a strong resume and cover letter.
  • Join the MIT Spouses & Partners Connect group on LinkedIn—find people in your field to ask questions about finding a job in Boston
  • Find instructions for applying for J2 work authorization on the International Students Office website.
  • Read the Career Development Handbook from the MIT Career Advising and Professional Development Center. You can get a hard copy of the Career Development Handbook from MS&PC.
  • Register for free seminars for young professionals at MIT Work Life
  • Organize a consult with a career counselor by calling MIT MyLife Services (partners of postdocs/faculty/staff) or MIT Gain (partners of students)
