Update from Mihir Sarkar & Sharmila Ganguly (at MIT 2005-2012)

We were at MIT from 2005 to 2012. Mihir was a grad student at the Media Lab; Sharmila translated a book on Dadaism for MIT Press during her first year at MIT, and then worked in publications at the MIT Energy Initiative. We had both our daughters during this time and our elder daughter Anjali attended the MIT TCC daycare at Eastgate. We miss being able to walk to work and being just 5 minutes from each other there. We used to get together for lunch almost everyday!

After Mihir's graduation, we moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. We are nostalgic about our time in Boston and reminisce about those days. We now live in Berkeley, which has many similarities with Cambridge. Here, Sharmila started learning and practicing therapeutic massage, and Mihir started a music technology startup based on his PhD research, called Musikara, which connects musicians so they can play together on the Internet. Anjali goes to the French bilingual school in Berkeley, and our younger daughter Anisha will be starting daycare soon. Our families still visit us regularly from France and India even though we're a little further than before.

The Bay Area is home to many MIT families, some of whom we are in touch with. We'd love to connect with more people in the area so feel free to get in touch: ganguly.sarkar@gmail.com.

Warmly,
Mihir, Sharmila, Anjali & Anisha

Update from Victoria Popescu (at MIT 1995-2000)

I was at MIT from 1995 to early 2000. I have such great memories from back then! Recently, I published my second novel Twin Magnolia- A Soul Call – a story of loss and gain, heartbreak and happiness, and a woman's need to find herself again to be able to open up her heart.

My first novel is there as well Anita- A journey through love. This is a romantic story that carries some deep/lovely messages about life. doinitaganachaud@gmail.com

Update from Kurt Snaet (at MIT 2001-2002)

After returning to Belgium from Boston I went back to teaching (Protestant religion in senior high school). I’m still teaching, although in the past two years I've been working part-time and have taken up some studying again (world religions and interreligious dialogue). Now I'm back to full-time teaching, but I still have to write a thesis to finish the master’s program.

My wife Nathalie took up an academic career (college professor, teaching management and researching social profit businesses), but has now decided to change directions again. She's also studying again (bio-medical ethics) and has just decided which way she'll be going...back to her original habitat: the hospital.  In those 11 years we happily welcomed Lode (2002), Lize (2004) and Elias (2007).
