It gives me an opportunity to help other families and — a major plus — I can bring my kids with me, so they also get exposed to volunteering!
Courtney Massey - Kids Clothing Exchange organizer
Volunteering with MIT S&P has been a great way to keep my skills updated and add experience to my résumé. I get to know new people and cultures every day. I learn how to be a team player and gain experience. I feel I have a community that supports me, and a lot of friends; I enjoy my time.
Jackie Phelesteen - Membership Officer
MIT Spouses & Partners Connect could not thrive without the contribution of our volunteers. Thanks to them, we can provide the variety, quality and quantity of activities that we do. Our volunteers contribute in both big and small ways, sometimes using their professional skills in the process.
Want to get involved?
Members are always welcome (and encouraged!) to shape and influence what we do, and to initiate and implement programs and activities. We’d love for you to be our volunteer, too.
The Executive Committee comprises MIT Spouses & Partners Connect members who are committed to managing several key responsibilities, from membership to communication to event planning. Together the staff and Executive Committee plan and implement our programs (including outreach to and orientation of new members) and oversee over 50 volunteers who make our activities, groups and events possible. We would like to acknowledge their precious help as none of this would be possible without them!
These are the sections of the Executive Committee:
The Membership Committee welcomes and orients new MIT spouses, answers their questions about life in Boston and at MIT, connects them to our online networks, and helps connect spouses to each other.
The Communications Committee informs members about our events and activities as well as MIT and local community events, educates our members about resources and the support available to them, and promotes our events and activities to our campus partners
The Events Officers work with volunteer members to organize social events.
Our editors produce our quarterly newsletter, and edit and proofread reports, email appeals, web content and other materials.
