Update from Elsa Tian, May 2013

My husband and I are retired ten years. I am now in the Memoir Writing Class, which is offered by the MITRA (MIT Retiree Association) I am also a member of the MIT Advisory Committee.  I organize day trips to museums around Boston and luncheon for the group. Day trips out of town to museums and a lunch in a nice restaurant. I am fortunate that Jan always supports me.

We travel to different countries and sometimes we have MIT friends in the country we visit, which made the vacation a lot more fun.

Update from Hui Ying Hoh, May 2013

We were in MIT from Aug 2011 to Aug 2012. We are currently back in Singapore. I work three days a week, teaching Chinese and Chemistry. This is a good arrangement as I get to work as well as spend time with Meredith. I also enjoy interacting with the students; kids nowadays are so much different from us. Here is my email address:hoh.hui.ying@gmail.com.

Update from Ayelet Boasson, May 2013

It's so great to re-connect with S&P. Back in Aug. 2003 - when we arrived to MIT (my first time in the US ever and we landed straight to the 3 day blackout in NY) a Spouses and Partners first year event was a life saver for me. Introduced me to other moms, all kinds of activities - at MIT and greater Boston and were always there to share experiences.

We were Westgate residents from Aug 2003 to Feb 2007. During that time I was a cooking group member, the GSC Family sub-committee Co-chair, Westgate Exec. Committee Social chair and eventually - a Financial Assistant at the student activities office. As a WEC social chair I organized the first HallowMIT event (Halloween 2005) http://westgate.mit.edu/node/179

We are now back home in Israel. I'm a freelance project manager and a social entrepreneur. I developed "O-so-Team" (Hebrew for female and male doers) which is a gender based start up incubator for youth.

Update from Danielle Yu, May 2013

I was in Boston from 2009-2011 while my husband attended Sloan MBA program. We moved to Shanghai last May and I am working on my Montessori teacher training. I also host a weekly sing-along story time in my community and develop nature awareness program in Shanghai for young children.

Update from Toshiko Imai, May 2013

(At MIT from 1997-2001)

I've been running a support organization called WUSPA (Washington Univ. Spouses & Partners Association) at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri for almost 11 years. It's just like Spouses and Partners @ MIT although the group is very small.

Apart from that, I'm enjoy playing tennis and playing Japanese music with some Japanese friends.

Update from Roberta Pizzinato, May 2013

(At MIT from 2004-2012)

We moved back to Padova, Italy in September 2012. Lisa and Leonardo are attending an international school and I’m searching for job that will allow me to use my love of numbers and my English. Hopefully I will find something soon. We are glad to be near our families again but missing our friends in Cambridge.

Update from Patricia Grinfeld, May 2013

I went to MIT from August 2004 to February 2006. After that, we came back to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Update from Gwen Lee, May 2013

Although now I'm in NY, the Cambridge days have suddenly become vivid these days through all the news reporting on the recent tragedy.

I published a children's picture book last year and it's now available in the USA! It's my second book and my first children's book so I'm really excited about it.

About Gwen's book:

"Little Cloud wants to make a snowman but he lives in the tropics where it doesn't snow. Together with Mama Cloud, they set out on an adventure to find snow. Young children will be enthralled by the beautiful illustrations in this book even as they are introduced to the different type of clouds and the water cycle."

Little Cloud Wants Snow! is available on Amazon.comBarnes & Noble, and Amazon UK.

Hope you're enjoying the warmer weather!

Regards,
Gwen

Update from Sarah Zenklusen, May 2013

After 2 years in Boston from 2010 - 2012, my husband and I moved to Baltimore, where we currently live. Very nice city. However, this summer we will move back home to Zurich, Switzerland as a position opened up for my husband unexpectedly.

Best,
Sarah

Update from Nathalie Gouedard, May 2013

I have been at MIT from 2009 to 2012 for my husband's postdoc.

My husband, our daughter and I are back in France but we live now in a region we didn't know before, in the south of France near Aix-en-Provence. Life has totally changed for us since we came back from the US: my daughter started preschool in September and I went back to work in December. For the last 3 years I was a stay-at-home mom and now, I am a part-time working mom. The transition was hard but we are happy to be back in France, near our family and finally settling down. My daughter thrives at school, I feel more fulfilled with my job. But we do miss Boston and the more relaxed way of life we had there. My social life was more active (thanks to MIT Spouses!!) and Annabelle and I miss our playdates friends greatly!

Update from Macarena Morales, Feb 2013

(At MIT from 2006 - 2008)

I am not a very active member when it comes to sending news of our whereabouts, but I am a loyal reader of the other people's news. I was also a fan of the book club you ran a few years ago, and I actually created my own one to read with my friends all over the world following your model (http://nocookiesbookclub.blogspot.com/). Alumni of MIT spouses&partners are invited to participate, some already do!

Many thanks,
